/The legend of Roger Maltbie grew in part thanks to losing his 1975 Pleasant Valley Classic winner's check at a pub while celebrating, only to have it found and displayed at T.O. Flynn's until it's closing.
Now a bit more sentimental, Maltbie finally asked for it back from Pleasant Valley, where pro Paul Parajeckas had been keeping it stored.

He wouldn't just become a five-time PGA Tour winner and popular television commentator. He would become "The Guy Who Lost the Check."
"In a lot of ways, that little slip of paper has defined my adult life and my professional life," said Maltbie. "I'm not Jack Nicklaus, OK? I've had to explain this story. I've been asked to tell it at corporate outings. It's been told and recounted ad nauseum, it seems."
