Trinity Forest: "A landfill with character"

The Dallas Morning News' Bill Nichols gets a sneak peak at Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw's Trinity Forest, a reimagined landfill five miles south of downtown.

The course will be a place for rich guys, SMU golf and a First Tee, along with aspirations to host events. The AT&T Byron Nelson Classic is expected to head there in 2019. A spring opening was delayed by weather, with September 1 now the target date.

Nichols reports this from the modest Coore:

"I don't want to sound like a promotional machine, but it was very interesting to walk out there and remember the conversation we had when we first came out here to look at the land," said Coore, who returned for two days of inspection about two weeks ago.

"Interestingly enough, of all the courses we've done, this one is probably the closest to what we envisioned. Amazingly similar in the sense of how the holes fit. It was just fascinating to see how it came together from the very beginning when it was a landfill.

The two photos included with the story suggest a much more linksy course than I'd imagined after years of hearing about the site. Not that this is a bad thing!
