Global Golf Post Picks Up SF City Championship Green Fees
/After Randy Haag's commentary pointing out that male and female semi-finalists in the historic San Francisco City are paying high fees at the expensively revamped (TPC) Harding Park, a benefactor has stepped in to cover the title match.
Ron Kroichick reports for the San Francisco Chronicle.
Haag’s words came to the attention of Jim Nugent, founder and publisher of “Global Golf Post,” a leading digital magazine - and the Post announced Tuesday it would cover green fees for all 22 finalists in the various City flights.
“We got our inspiration from Randy,” Nugent said in a news release. “ … We have been a sponsor of this historically significant amateur event for several years, and I thought we could do even more to support it.”
The San Francisco City Championship is one of the oldest amateur tournaments in the nation; it started in 1917 and this year’s event is the 100th edition.
