Getting In The Mood For A Hoylake Like We Haven't Seen It

The last time modern golf fans layed eyes on Royal Liverpool (a.k.a. Hoylake), Tiger Woods was methodically carving his way around the baked-out links en route to the 2006 Open Championship. (Tiger contributed some memories of that week for LPGA.com.)

But the women teeing up there this week in the Ricoh Women's British Open will face an entirely different course due to England's wet summer.

Golf Channel previewed the event on Golf Central and it sounds like it could be a wild week.

The star attraction, amateur sensation Lydia Ko, has modest goals reports Alex Miceli. She tees off with elder stateswoman Lexi Thompson at 7 am Thursday. ESPN2 airs the first round starting Thursday at 9 am ET.

Reader Tim sent a few images and has also posted some Facebook shots here and here.

But from these shots I think you get the drift: this is Hoylake like we haven't seen it.
