Cherry Hills Makes It Official
/In this Denver Post video, Cherry Hills Board of Directors John Elway, who is also the Denver Broncos VP of Football Operations, makes the announcement of Cherry Hills getting the 2014 BMW Championship, which, thankfully will continue to benefit the Evans Scholars.
In writing about the announcement, Woody Paige reminded us of this little nugget from the PGA Tour/Jack Vickers falling out:
In 2006, The International at Castle Pines faded away when Jack Vickers no longer could attract a major sponsor as the economy declined, and, actually, turned down a FedEx Cup tournament in September because of the conflict with football.
But BMW is a sponsor now of the tournament (currently played in Chicago), and the FedEx Cup has grown in popularity and prestige.
