Jack And Annika Have Offered To Design Olympic Course Pro-Bono

I asked Scott Tolley to help clarify after Jack's statement Sunday about not wanting remuneration for the Rio golf course to be built for Olympic play. Tolley is Nicklaus's VP of Communications and kindly confirmed:

That statement is correct, as neither of them is seeking compensation. Jack and Annika made that very clear in their first correspondence last year to the governing bodies.

Jack and Annika simply want to make sure that the competitive needs of both the men and women are taken care of, and as Jack indicated during the telecast, that golf has the opportunity in 2016 to put its best foot forward. As I believe he pointed out, while golf will be part of the Olympic program in 2016 and 2020, the vote to keep golf among the Olympic sports going forward will be made in 2017. So as an extension or continuation of their efforts that began with their roles as Global Ambassadors to golf’s successful campaign to return to the Olympic Games, Jack and Annika realize that the eyes of the world will be upon the game of golf in 2016, and as a team they have the ability to create the finest golf experience and competition our sport has to offer, and thus send the proper message to the world about the greatness of our game.
