I sat with the horrified onlookers in the 16th hole grandstand watching Sergio's Roy McAvoy impersonation and from the side, it was fascinating how quickly everyone knew each attempt was doomed due to a pair of factors: the severity of the hole location and a tighter shaving of the immediate lake surrounds, which had been more forgiving at times in recent years.
