Fox Swaps Strange For Pavin As Lead On-Course Reporter

Two-time U.S. Open Champion Curtis Strange has signed with Fox Sports and will be the lead on-course reporter for the USGA's home network. Along with the addition of Paul Azinger, the year-two revamp continues with more former ESPN staffers joining the Fox effort.

Martin Kaufmann at Golfweek.com reports.

This will be Strange’s first job as an on-course reporter. He worked as a lead analyst for ABC and later as a hole announcer for ESPN. But he said has wanted to try on-course work since his ABC days.

Strange is signed for three years. Corey Pavin handled the lead on-course announcer role in 2015, but there is no word on his deal for 2016.

Strange's deal comes on the eve of expected layoffs to slash $250 million off the books at Fox Sports, reports SBJ's John Ourand.
