Riviera Wrap: Bubba Wins Second NoTrust Title

A weird Sunday at Riviera certainly wasn't dull unless you were trying to follow when CBS relented and showed some golf, but the old-style LA crowds who turned out in energetic fashion enjoyed a swell show from an LA-favorite, Bubba Watson.

Doug Ferguson's
lede sums up the wackiness that transpired when Watson came to the press center to talk about his second Northern Trust Open win.

Bubba Watson packed plenty of memories from his week in LA. He has a kidney stone as a keepsake. He had a cameo in "Girl Meets World." He received a text Sunday morning from Steph Curry offering shooting tips to Watson's son. And he capped it all with the best memento of all.

"Hold on a second, my trophy is coming," Watson said, interrupting his press conference as the shiny prize was placed on the table next to him.

It wasn't clear if passing the kidney stone or winning the Northern Trust Open was more difficult.

The scene in question from GolfChannel.com:

Yes Bubba passed a stone, and kept it. And it was pain free. Only in Bubba's world, as I wrote for GolfDigest.com.

Rex Hoggard at GolfChannel.com has a nice summary of an eventful week on the course and off for Bubba and runner-up Adam Scott.

Adam Schupak at Golfweek.com on breathrough weeks for Scott's putter and Jason Kokrak, who leaked a little oil down the stretch but still had a shot to force a playoff with his 18th hole birdie putt.

Rory McIlroy three putted from 12-feet on the par-3 4th and then made a poor strategic choice with his shot bunkered in the middle of Riviera's 6th. His excellent course management to that point seemed to unravel en route to a 75 where he had 33 putts. Jason Sobel on McIlroy and what's next for the World No. 3.

The bunker shot:

Bubba's daughter made a cute appearance during the trophy ceremony:

One my favorite shots from the day:

David Dusek with Bubba's club specs.

Adam Scott chipped in on 18 in thrilling fashion to make things interesting.

Bubba's draw shot into Sunday's back right hole location was sensational.
