Kenny Perry On The Champions Tour: "The media, golf fans, they look at us as a freak show. We don’t get any publicity."
/Golfweek's Adam Schupak looks at the state of the Senior Tour Champions Tour PGA Tour Champions Tour and ponders its "identity crisis."
A few things stood out, including this quote from Kenny Perry.
“I don’t think anything on the Champions tour means anything to anybody, to tell you the truth. The media, golf fans, they look at us as a freak show. We don’t get any publicity. None of our tournaments mean anything. I think it is sad because the golf out here is tremendous.”
Going into the 2014 PGA Tour annual report, Schupak reveals that the geezers netted $70.7 million. And even with $26.5 coming from 50/50 split with the flatbellies of retail/corporate licensing, along with a $5 million annual allocation, the Champions required an additional $5.71 million from tour operating reserves.
