29: Lydia Ties Annika's Consecutive Sub-Par Round Record

Even facing blustery morning winds and less than her best, Lydia Ko posted a one-under 71 to tie Annika Sorenstam's incredible LPGA record of 29 consecutive under-par rounds.

Larry Bohannan
reports for the Desert Sun:

Ko was among the morning flight of golfers who teed off into the teeth of strong morning winds that at times reached 30 mph. But playing the back nine first, Ko jumped to a quick start with birdies on two of her first three holes. It was the start of a roller-coaster back nine, with one birdie and four bogeys in her next six holes. That included a bogey on the par-5 18th when she hit a palm tree with a flop shot on the island green.

Sorenstam took to Twitter to congratulate and compliment the incredible 17-year-old, who promptly replied:

Morgan Pressel
posted a five-under par 67 to lead by one.
