Brandel: Tiger And Phil Don't Deserve To Be Cup Captains

Look, I know Tiger's driving record has a blemish but that was an Escalade, not a four-seat, patriotic Club Car. And Phil has had his Cup moments, but they showed up in some form at both task force meetings!

That didn't stop Brandel Chamblee from calling out both for not having shown the passion that others have for cup events, and therefore, ruling them out as future captains in his mind. Not that the people who make such decisions will take note, but it is a provocative point Chamblee threw out following the news that Tiger was trying to do some Presidents Cup coaching from his couch.

The key quote:

“I don’t really think it’s appropriate to give players a leadership role in an event that they didn’t show interest or passion for when they were competitors.”

He also uses the corrupt word and Mickelson with regards to off course antics and says "they don't deserve it."

The full clip, where Brandel's comments end with a turn to the panel, that includes David Duval, who wanted to be paid for playing in the Ryder Cup. Awkward!
