More Honda Drama: Tiger WD's With Back Spasms
/Here is an account from Will Gray at GolfChannel.com from on-site.
After shooting a 5-over-par 40 on the front nine of PGA National's Champion Course, Woods played the first four holes of the back nine in even par before walking off after 13 holes. The PGA Tour did not immediately give an official reason for the withdrawal, but NBC said a spokesperson for Woods said it was a bad back.
Gray notes that Tiger was stretching most of the day.
Bob Harig features quotes from Tiger through spokesman Glenn Greenspan, confirming that the issue started in the morning when warming up. As for next week?
"Regarding Doral, too early to tell," he said. "I'll get treatment every day to try and calm it down. Don't know yet. We'll see how I am, wait till Thursday and see how it feels."
This Luke Kerr-Dineen slideshow of Tiger injuries is a reminder of how many times he's had something go wrong on the course, including a Barclay's back issue last year that was blamed on a soft mattress.

"I kind of noticed that he wasn't feeling the greatest," playing partner Luke Guthrie said. "I noticed he was starting to kind of gingery tee up the ball and pick up the ball out of the hole and stuff.
"He made a couple uncharacteristic shots; the drive on 3 kind of was the first one. I didn't know if he wasn't feeling the greatest -- it kind of seemed like he might have been protecting, came up and out of it. If you're hurting, you're hurting."
