Stallings Wins Farmers; Spieth Plays Through Pain

The pre-vent architecture and pre-vent setup conspired to bunch the 2014 Farmers Insurance Open leaderboard where Scott Stallings eventually separated himself from a pack that included K.J. Choi, Graham DeLaet, Jason Day, Pat Perez, Marc Leishman Charley Hoffman, Ryo Ishikawa and the cast of Big Break XI.

Steve DiMeglio's game story notes that at one point 19 players were within two shots of the lead while 10 players held at least a share of the lead at some point. He also points out that Stallings hit just four fairways the final round.

Falling to a T19 was Jordan Spieth, who revealed after the round that he was playing with a "tweaked" ankle that eroded his confidence and driving. I wrote about that for GolfDigest.com.
