Golf Channel Has More Announcers At Canadian Than CBS!?
/I'll be the first to argue that many telecasts have too many voices and that part of the BBC's Open Championship charm lies in a minimalist approach. But the PGA Tour and sponsor RBC have to be wondering what "partner" CBS is doing when they only have a four-man team at the Canadian Open.
Reader Brian pointed it out to me on Twitter and I double checked with the pre-event press releases: Golf Channel had six announcers for its broadcast of the first two rounds and early weekend coverage (Hammons, Byrum, Oosterhuis, Gogel, Foltz, Walker) while CBS had Nantz and Baker-Finch on 18, Gary McCord on 17 and Matt Gogel at 16/on-course reporting after the leaders came through his position).
