Golf Channel Has More Announcers At Canadian Than CBS!?

I'll be the first to argue that many telecasts have too many voices and that part of the BBC's Open Championship charm lies in a minimalist approach. But the PGA Tour and sponsor RBC have to be wondering what "partner" CBS is doing when they only have a four-man team at the Canadian Open.

Reader Brian pointed it out to me on Twitter and I double checked with the pre-event press releases: Golf Channel had six announcers for its broadcast of the first two rounds and early weekend coverage (Hammons, Byrum, Oosterhuis, Gogel, Foltz, Walker) while CBS had Nantz and Baker-Finch on 18, Gary McCord on 17 and Matt Gogel at 16/on-course reporting after the leaders came through his position).
