Dyson WD's To Prepare For Rules Violation Hearing
/An unbylined wire story says Simon Dyson's pulled out of the Turkey event next week, ending his chances of making the season-ending Race to Dubai so he can prepare for a disciplinary hearing later this month over this tap.
Before news of the WD hit, Oliver Brown had written in the Telegraph that Dyson was facing more than one allegation.
After an initial report that claimed he had “no recollection” of the incident, officials are understood to have collected evidence on other violations of which Dyson, a six-time winner on tour, has been accused this season.
The three-man committee deciding the 35-year-old’s sanction will comprise a lawyer, a former player and an administrator, and are likely to meet soon after next month’s season-ending World Tour Championship in Dubai.
Yet Alistair Tait is reporting the opposite, that Dyson does not face a grand inquisition.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, sources told Golfweek that Dyson is unlikely to face any further penalty.
“Simon has no previous record of anything like this,” one English European Tour player said. “I’ve never heard any rumors about anything dodgy in his past. He’s a good lad. We all know you can’t tap down spike marks. All I can think is that he’s just made a mental error at the time.”
