"Some Spanish guy."

I know I'm way behind on this but thanks to the readers who forwarded Lenox Rawlings' backstory on Sergio Garcia's Wyndham Championship-winning looper David Faircloth, who got the job the way Hogan and Nelson's caddies used to get hired: at the caddie yard, on the spot.

Garcia and his latest regular caddie parted ways recently, and he still hadn't hired anyone by Wednesday. As Long's pro-am team walked off the last green, Long asked Faircloth if he would caddie over the weekend.

"You mean at Eagle Point?" Faircloth replied.

"No, no, no, no, no," Long said. "Right here."

Faircloth: "Who?"

"Some Spanish guy," Long said.

"Sergio?"

Long nodded, and Faircloth signed on. He met Garcia only an hour before the first round.

The story goes on to note that he'll be engaged soon and awaits Sergio's decision on just how big of a check he'll get. Ryan Lavner reports that the amount was still undecided as of Wednesday when Faircloth appeared on Morning Drive.
