UK Press Finally Targets "Wozilory" Merger For Rory's Woes

Steven Howard in The Sun came close to blaming love woes for Rory's second round 75 at Lytham, but did not quite go all the way.

No, life ain’t a bundle of fun for Rory McIlroy right now.

His girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki, who has slipped from first to 10th in the world tennis rankings this year, launched her own underwear collection last month.

It was an appropriate business venture seeing her form out on court is currently, er, pants.
Her young beau — part of a sporting equivalent of Branjelina known as Wozilroy — is going through similar bad times.

The Independent's James Lawton became the first to openly question the state of Rory's game in the Caroline era.

Rory McIlroy, who slightly more than a year ago appeared to have inherited the world of golf, earlier this week snapped – by his standards it was almost a snarl – "there is no distraction" when it was implied there was a link between a crash in his form and his romantic entanglement with Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki.

He says, with the sharpest emphasis, "no". Yet the circumstantial evidence is mounting. Four missed cuts in his previous six outings – including the US Open, which he not so much won as engulfed 13 months ago – say, yes, something has taken McIlroy away from the glowing edge of his most beautiful game.
