Olympic Already On The Radar For A Sixth U.S. Open

Ron Kroichick talks to an upbeat Mike Davis about this week's U.S. Open and the likelihood of a return date very soon.

"The course has just played exceptionally well," he said. "If you look back at the last four Opens, there are some people where Olympic wasn't one of their favorite U.S. Open sites. There's always a little controversy in terms of (tee shots) can't hold the fairways, or bumpy greens.

"If every single thing this week had been the same, but we had been on the poa annua greens, you would have heard: fair setup, hard, but man these greens are driving us crazy. That's what we heard at Torrey Pines and Pebble Beach."

Davis told me Sunday that Olympic's stock had "certainly risen" on the success of this week and it would seem hard to fathom how the 2021 or 2022 dates are not already being penciled in by the Far Hills staff for a return to San Francisco.
