Kane: Why Is The USGA "in bed with a guy who’s espousing some of the worst, hate-filled, noxious elements of the human personality?"
/In light of Donald Trump reigniting his Barack Obama/Birther views, Brad Kane wonders how long the USGA can stomach its newfound relationship with Donald Trump, host of the 2017 U.S. Women's Open.
Look, it’s easy to say "Hey, this has nothing to do with the USGA, this is strictly a golf matter." That’s a line that can be bought, at least to an extent. But I go in a different direction on this.
The USGA is recognized as THE keeper of the game in this country, right? It's the best. So why is it in bed with a guy who’s espousing some of the worst, hate-filled, noxious elements of the human personality? Why is it suddenly okay for the leading golf institution in this country, one that carefully avoids taking their events to courses or clubs that exclude people based on their race or gender, to put it all aside for a guy who’s looking to undermine the President of the United States?
This isn’t even a right vs. left issue. It’s a sane vs. insane issue, and I’m sorry, the Birther movement is most decidedly not the former.
