Full Points For New Fall Kickoff; What Will Be The Impact?

The sponsor complaints were listened to and the new fall events kicking off the PGA Tour schedule in 2013 will have full FedExCup points, reports Dave Shedloski. This will likely have a negative impact on Australia and PGA Tour West Coast Swing fields.  You may recall I reported that Frys.com was objecting to half points for those fall events.

As for the absurd claim of the Nationwide Tour being the best barometer for a successful PGA Tour career, an argument undermined by the tour plan to have a three-week playoff that potentially eliminates a season long "body of work," Jim Furyk tells Shedloski that a solution is not coming along easily. Perhaps because there is no solution?

"There's a reason we're going slowly on this," he said. "It's very complicated, and it's very important. We know that we are determining how a professional career develops here. I'm new to the Policy Board, but I asked Davis Love, who's serving on the board a fourth time if anything has ever been this hard. He said 'no,' so now I know that it's not just me."

Gary Van Sickle tries to mop up the mess that's about to be made with some common sense solutions to the new issues created by the "fiscal year" schedule. They all make too much sense.
