Honda Classic Ratings Up 78%

Michael Hiestand with the news of Sunday's strong ratings for the Honda, though paled compared to the Northern Trust Open a few weeks ago which did not include Rory or Tiger.

Rory McIlroy's win, which made him the world's top ranked golfer, and Tiger Woods shooting 62, his best-ever closing round, helped NBC draw a 3.2 overnight. (That translates into 3.2% of TV households in the 56 urban markets measured for overnights.)

That rating is up 78% from not only last year's comparable coverage, but it's also up 78% from comparable coverage in each of the last three years. The rating peaked at 4.3 between 5:30 p.m. ET and 5:45 p.m. ET.

FYI the NTO delivered a 4.3 and peaked at 7.3 with 11.3 million viewers.

The tournament also broke attendance records, with 161,000 for the week.
