Random Golf Job Posting: NGF Research Director

Thanks to the reader for spotting the National Golf Foundation posting for its Director of Research job opening.

I found this part interesting and based on the NGF's past projections, mildly disturbing:

Imagine a scenario where the leadership of every segment in the golf business anticipates your work, digests the insightful research reports you publish and then guides their business decisions based on the telemetry you provide. NGF holds a special role as the keepers of the vital signs of the golf business and publishes/distributes 10-15 reports annually via this Web site and a monthly electronic magazine at this Web site. Work standards are extremely high and candidates are encouraged to research the reputation of the NGF.

Just ignore the whole building one-course-a-day-thing, it was a blip!

This position requires a person who enjoys writing superior surveys, analyzing the results, pulling out the insights and crystallizing the relevant data into publications that non-academics find compelling and useful. This is not a position for somebody who does not enjoy the "grunt work" of institutional research or is accustomed to delegating the bulk of their assignments to junior researchers.

What's the point of being called a Director if you can't delegate? Sorry, go on...

Member and media contact is a regular responsibility so please don't apply if you would not enjoy dealing directly with the people who drive the golf business.

So you want a wonky numbers geek who is press savy. Good luck with that!
