DVR Alert: Asian Amateur On ESPN...2 And 3.com

Surely a requirement of ESPN's deal with Augusta National, but still nice to see an amateur event televised and one that adds a player to the Masters field.

With an automatic berth in the 2012 Masters and positions in international final qualifying for the Open Championship at stake, top amateur golfers will compete in the Asian Amateur Championship Sept. 29 – Oct. 2 at the Singapore Island Country Club. ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPN Mobile TV will air two hours of action from both the third and final rounds, with third-round play airing at 3:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 1, and final-round action at 3 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2. ESPN2 also will air 30 minutes of first-round highlights on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. and second-round highlights on Friday, Sept. 30, at noon, as well as final-round highlights at 1 p.m. Sunday. The event was created in 2009 as a joint initiative to grow the game by the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation, the Masters Tournament and The R&A.
