Rory Fought The Law And The Law Fined Him £100 For Speeding

Thanks to reader Stuart for what appears to be a Sun story sounding much more harmless than Monty's serial speeding issues, until you read the details of Rory McIlroy's £100 fine. Someone needs to tell the young lad that unless the Windermere Police pull him over, this stuff won't fly when he moves to Orlando in 2012:

As well as breaking the speed limit he also failed to produce his driving licence or insurance documents when asked to by the officers. A fourth charge that he was behind the wheel without a licence was dropped.

McIlroy boasts that driving is one of his main hobbies - but it was not revealed in court which posh motor he was cruising around in when stopped.

The golfer did not turn up for the hearing at Laganside Court as he was playing in an American tournament in Akron, Ohio.

He was fined £60 for speeding and another £40 for failing to produce his licence and insurance seven days after he was stopped.
