O'Meara's Bagman Up For Tiger Gig; Must Weigh Pay Cut

John Huggan says Mark O'Meara's caddy is now the leading candidate to replace Bryon Bell as Tiger's caddy.

1) Who is going to succeed the outspoken Williams on Tiger Woods' bag?

The latest favorite is Shane Joel, who currently works for Tiger-pal Mark O'Meara. Two weeks ago, in fact, O'Meara texted Woods to say that he would not stand in his friend's way if Joel is in fact the man he wants. Woods' reply was non-committal: "thanks, will keep you posted."

Rex Hoggard says the giveaway came last weekend when Joel showed up at the WGC Bridgestone range.

Add Shane Joel to the short list of candidates. Joel, who caddies for Woods’ friend Mark O’Meara, was spotted on the Firestone practice tee last week talking with Woods. A person familiar with the situation said, “if he came (to Ohio) to talk to him, he is his new caddie.”

FYI, Mark O'Meara this year, $784,294 on the Champions Tour.

Tiger Woods on the PGA Tour: $629,863
