"Our tournament has been growing every year, and this really supercharges it."
/Ron Kroichick tells us the backstory of Tiger's decision to play at the Frys.com Open and it sounds like the event might become a regular stop for Woods. Or at least should.
Woods apparently will bypass two Fall Series events closer to his South Florida home - the tournament outside Orlando and another in Sea Island, Ga. - to play in Northern California. One other little-known factor: He will host the inaugural Tiger Woods Invitational, a fund-raising event for his foundation, Oct. 11-13 at Pebble Beach.
That begins two days after the Frys.com Open ends - a nice coincidence for a tournament trying to find its niche.
"Our tournament has been growing every year," Knight said, "and this really supercharges it."
