"Our tournament has been growing every year, and this really supercharges it."

Ron Kroichick tells us the backstory of Tiger's decision to play at the Frys.com Open and it sounds like the event might become a regular stop for Woods. Or at least should.

Woods apparently will bypass two Fall Series events closer to his South Florida home - the tournament outside Orlando and another in Sea Island, Ga. - to play in Northern California. One other little-known factor: He will host the inaugural Tiger Woods Invitational, a fund-raising event for his foundation, Oct. 11-13 at Pebble Beach.
That begins two days after the Frys.com Open ends - a nice coincidence for a tournament trying to find its niche.

"Our tournament has been growing every year," Knight said, "and this really supercharges it."
