Tiger Getting In His Reps On Tiger Woods PGA Tour '11; Swing Still Sounds Wipey
/And based on this Michael Curey special report to PGATour.com, his wipey swing needs more reps on the EA Sports Tiger Woods game too after finding himself trailing a 19-year-old from Indiana flown in as part of contest to help plug the creation of the next iteration.
After a quick meet-and-greet session, O'Connor and Woods sat down and began the friendly video competition -- playing five holes on the TPC Sawgrass. O'Connor knew what he was about to embark on was not the same as the heated contests he often played with his fraternity brothers back at IU.
"Tiger was engaging," said EA SPORTS Community Manager John Coleman. "There was friendly banter between the two during the game. Both of them were having a good time."
O'Connor was quick to note that he held a 10-shot lead on Tiger at one point during the competition. "I would hear 'great shot' from Tiger," said O'Connor. "Coming from him, that meant a lot even if it was just a video game. I told him he's got me on any golf course in real life. When I told him I had more time to play this than he did, he joked, 'Not this past weekend.'"
With Tiger playing video games instead of making one last ditch effort to make next week's playoffs by teeing it up in the Wyndham Championship, Steve Elling thought it was a slap in the face to the tour. (Of course, the EA game has PGA Tour in the title, so he was working for the team.)
This week in Greensboro, a slew of big names like three-time major winners Padraig Harrington, Ernie Els and Vijay Singh are trying to make the cut and move up in the FedEx Cup standing. This marks the last week to secure additional points in order to qualify for the four-event playoff series beginning next week at The Barclays in Edison, N.J.
As for Woods, all the public knows for sure is that he spent one day this week helping hawk a video game.
