"Is there a more loathsome man in golf than Tiger Woods' recently-fired caddy Steve Williams?"

That's the question Richard Bath asks after listening to the fired caddy complain about his firing.

Williams' toadying obsequience towards his boss and former friend was as legendary as his brusqueness with mere mortals. When Tiger got caught sleeping with half of the women in America, his caddy was apparently doing a good impression of Arsene Wenger and turned out to have been looking in the other direction. When Woods wanted to slap down his closest rival, Phil Mickelson, but didn't want to be seen to be sticking the knife in, Williams happily stepped in.
