Friday Night Mowers Come Out In Vancouver!

What prompted the PGA Tour to order a trimming of the excessive Canadian Open rough at Shaughnessy on Friday night?

I'm going to guess that the tipping point was Canadian Mike Weir withdrawing to protect a tender elbow and saying this:

"I woke up this morning and it was very sore. I thought I could play through it," he said. "(I) had a couple of shots in the rough this morning. And I just don't want to go down that road again where it becomes a bad injury again.

"It's very tender, very sore right now. With this deep rough, I just can't hit it."

I'm sure someone will get blamed for this embarrassment, but hopefully no one loses a job over it. Because we all know why, ultimately, rough is harvested on a course like this: at 7,010 yards, Shaughnessy is hopelessly overmatched in the modern era of juiced equipment on the professional level. 7,000 is the new 6,200 yards.
