Tiger Still Hopes To Play More '11 Events Than Hogan In '53

He updated his status via a vague website report, leaving scribes to try and read into words that didn't offer much other than a "likely" U.S. Open appearance. Steve Elling writes:

"Aggravating my injury is very disappointing," Woods said. "I'll do whatever is necessary to play in the U.S. Open, and I'm hopeful I can be there to compete."

That might include ... doing absolutely nothing.

The website said Woods would "likely" play in the U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club outside Washington, D.C., on June 16-19. It also characterized the chances as slim that Woods will play at the Memorial Tournament later this month, one of his traditional stops. Woods indicated it's a week-to-week process of evaluating his medical status.

Sean Martin notes:

The form he displayed at TPC Sawgrass would not seem to portend victory at the U.S. Open. But from his health to the state of his game, everything about Woods remains a mystery.

On a serious note regarding Hogan and 53, is it time we come to grips with that six appearance season being the model for Tiger's future appearance schedule?
