R.I.P. Douglas Lowe

Sad, sad news. The Scottish Herald's excellent golf writer and editor was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December. More tributes will surely follow.

He was a sub-editor for several years before being appointed golf correspondent in 2003.

The position was a labour of love for someone who was a competent player and qualified referee as well as having an encyclopaedic knowledge of everything to do with the game. He brought that expertise to bear in his coverage of all levels of the sport, from the elite Ryder Cup and Open Championship coverage to that of the Scottish Boys’ and Amateur Championships.

I went back and looked at the list of posts of his stories over the years. The quality of his work along with the number of stories he broke was as long as any this site has posted. And by all accounts a wonderful man. He will be missed.
