Founders Cup Roundup, Japan Wins And The LPGA Still Needs To Play For Real Money

Randall Mell wraps up the charitable contributions of the top 10 finishers in the Founders Cup and with several players adding Japan relief funds as a nice touch, it's hard to knock the event. Then again, something about it still just lacks the legitimacy that this week's KIA Classic will carry with a real purse, a great field and well, uh, a golf course to play on. (See I can say nice things about Industry Hills! I called it a golf course.)

Winner – Karrie Webb, $200,000, Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, Japan relief funds.

T-2 – Paula Creamer, $77,500, Japan relief funds.

T-2 – Brittany Lincicome, $77,500, First Tee of St. Petersburg.

4th – Cristie Kerr, $40,000, Birdies for Breast Cancer/Muhammad Ali Parkinson’s Foundation.

5th – Angela Stanford, $30,000, Angela Stanford Foundation (Lena Pope Home, MHMR of Tarrant County and First Tee of Fort Worth primary beneficiaries).

Also, as reader Don noted, one other quibble: they need to pick a better backdrop for next year's winner picture. Something about a vacant landscape just does not instill a feeling of a well-attended event. I understand that the trophy is larger than the Eiffel Tower and could not be moved, but still...
