PINEHURST LAUNCHES DEDICATED WEBSITE TO SHOWCASE PINEHURST NO. 2 RESTORATION

Pinehurstnumber2.com features updated video, photos, information and commentary from project designers Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw

VILLAGE OF PINEHURST, N.C. (Feb. 7, 2011) – Pinehurst Resort today announced the launch of the dedicated website www.pinehurstnumber2.com to provide golfers a unique and interactive way to follow the progress of the restoration progress of one of the country’s most revered courses.

The website will feature regularly updated photos, information, trivia and video, including commentary from Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, the designers behind the project.

“With all the excitement about the restoration of No. 2, we wanted to give golfers a place where they could see and hear about all the work that’s been done, as well as get a taste of what they’ll encounter the next time they play No. 2,” said Tom Pashley, Executive Vice President of Marketing at Pinehurst.

Pinehurst No. 2 is scheduled to reopen March 4 following a yearlong project to restore the natural and strategic character to the course that had been lost over time. The course now will have no rough, larger playing areas and a natural aesthetic reminiscent of Donald Ross’ original design.

Pinehurst No. 2 has served as host for more single golf championships than any other course in America. In 2014, it will become the first to hold the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open Championships in consecutive weeks.
