The "Stoush" Is Over But The Stache Remains
/Russell Gould reports on the Australiam Masters eve, Robert Allenby and Geoff Ogilvy made up following last month's Perth poutfest prompted by Allenby's pathetic Presidents Cup performance. Is that enough alliteration for one sentence?
Allenby said the incident "weighed on his mind" for the past couple of weeks so he left a phone message on Ogilvy's phone last weekend to catch-up.
They did last night at a dinner ahead of this week's JB Were Masters and Allenby said everything between them was good.
"Everything's perfect, back to normal," Allenby said today.
"It weighed on my mind when I was on my way back to America but not any more.
"I did reach out and we had a good chat last night, which was nice, it was nice to see him face to face ... we laughed.
"Geoff and I have been mates for a long time and we're not going to allow something this silly to spoil that."
Ogilvy was not asked about the row in his Tuesday press conference, nor was he asked to address the moustache that remains. He also talks about the course, Luke Donald and the new Euro Tour event in Perth:
Allenby's presser can be viewed here. Assuming you feel the need for closure.
Martin Blake also reports that Allenby has made up with one of his fired caddies. Col Burwood returns to the coveted bag this week and joins a 2012 rotation with Robert Floyd. Maybe Allenby recognizes small doses might be the cure all for retaining bagmen?
Allenby has rehired one of the caddies he sacked earlier this year, Col Burwood, to carry his bag this week. "He knows why I got rid of him," said the Victorian.
Burwood will share duties with Robert Floyd, the son of legendary American professional Ray Floyd, in 2012.
