Google's Driverless Golf Carts!
/CNET's Liane Yvkoff tells us all about Google showing off autonomous golf carts at the IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems in San Francisco last month.
Also featured was this YouTube video of Stanford University professor Sebastian Thrun and Google engineer Chris Urmson explaining the technology used in the self-driving vehicles.
While I could certainly see the fun of a golf cart valeting itself, how on earth would parades like Palm Desert's El Paseo gathering last Sunday ever be the same? Sherry Barkas with the details and disturbing video:
El Paseo, with its upscale shops and art galleries, was taken over Sunday by people with orange hair, big red noses and makeshift circus tents as the 47th annual Golf Cart Parade drew a record crowd to the street.
For Olga Banks and her family, the spectacle was all a part of what has become an annual tradition.
“We come straight from church every year,” she said.
The family sat comfortably in chairs they set up on the El Paseo median, waiting patiently for the parade and its record 90 entries to get underway.
