Captainness Vindicated! Sun Mountain Back For Prez Cup

I was too busy with Tiger stuff last week to notice the life-changing announcement that Sun Mountain would be outfitting the U.S. Presidents Cup team with rainsuits. John Strege reported on the comeback for the company that provided the infamous leaking suits to the 2010 U.S. Ryder Cup team, leading to a blame game that helped distract everyone from Captainness Lisa Pavin's lavender Richie Cunningham sweaters.

According to an internal company email obtained by this site (I only go after the big stories), the company did not seek out the opportunity.

As you know, Fred Couples approached us about being the outerwear provider for the US Presidents Cup 2011 Team. Given the Ryder Cup experience we gave the decision a lot of thought and decided to proceed if and only if we could find a fabric that offered the waterproof/breathable and stretchable features of RainFlex while being more resistant to wetting out.

Couples is a big fan of RainFlex but understood our hesitation. We were able to work with him and his team to agree upon what is now the Official Outerwear of The President Cup 2011 United States Team.

The fabric used in this rain gear is the same fabric being used in the Torrent but the waterproof laminate is different, therefore, we are not saying that it is the Torrent. If all goes well at The Presidents Cup, this same fabric/laminate combo used for The Presidents Cup may well be in the
2013 line.
