FedExCup Reviews In: Still Not Working

As someone who has advocated (from the beginning) an alternative to the current algorithm-happy conclusion to the FedExCup, it's fun to read Sports Business Journal's roundup of FedExCup reviews because a consensus is forming. And it goes like this: it's not quite working.

The best lines come from Jim Moriarty's Golf World game story from East Lake:

If it aspires to being more than just a delaying tactic, keeping players from trips to deer stands and fly-fishing streams, it has to arrive at that point where one player stands over a putt knowing it's worth $10 million dollars and, he misses, the guy standing across the green watching him hit it inherits the tax problems instead" (GOLF WORLD, 10/3 issue).

It'll be interesting to see if the criticism makes Tim Finchem dig in, or dig deeper for a more imaginative and coherent way of crowning a champion. I've heard some stellar ideas in the last two weeks, but each would require the tour to acknowledge they didn't come up with the ideal solution.
