"I wish the PGA Tour would take a cue from the NHL."

There's something you don't hear everyday.

But Jason Sobel said it and he's not the only NHL fan who watched the All-Star fantasy draft and though, hmmmm....this would make the Presidents Cup wildly entertaining. Naturally, those words I just typed will scare the living day lights out of the Ponte Vedra brass who just spent the morning wondering if their light blue Oxford with the red tie was a little too edgy of a wardrobe choice.

Sobel writes:

Just imagine captains Greg Norman and Fred Couples sitting at a podium with two dozen of the world's best players awaiting their selections. Would either dare go against a struggling Woods with the first pick? Would he go for the proverbial "best player available" or try to build a team of like-minded competitors who would get along well in the team room?

It's a concept that worked in the NHL's first year of trying it. And although it might destroy some of the Presidents Cup's traditions that have been built since its inception in 1994, the process certainly would bring more attention to lead-up of the event.

Who needs attention when you don't depend on ratings!
