McIlroy responded to a question posed by world number one Lee Westwood about his participation in the event at TPC Sawgrass in May by stating that he would prefer to get in some practice rounds.

"Yes I have! I've decided no holes at Sawgrass is better than my usual 36! Do you want to have a few holes that week somewhere?" McIlroy said.
