Rule May Change, But Rules The Ignoramus Will Still Be DQ'd

As first reported here, the USGA has reversed its position after Padraig Harrington's ball nudge and subsequent incorrect scorecard signing DQ, deciding to revisit the situation in hopes of finding a way to not disqualify players who believe they sign for a correct score.

However, as I note in Golf World Monday, there is a distinction that a lot players and some fans won't like. The USGA and R&A will be looking for ways to delineate situations where the player knew the rules and believed he or she had acted correctly, and those where the player simply did not know the rules.
