"If the 51-year-old Californian does say something remotely interesting over the next few days, expect a standing ovation from a so-far-at-least bored-to-tears press corps."
/John Huggan may just get a visit from the Captainness next week after this about the U.S. Captain:
Pavin, by way of complete contrast, has clearly gone out of his way to be as dull as possible. Indeed, if the 51-year-old Californian does say something remotely interesting over the next few days, expect a standing ovation from a so-far-at-least bored-to-tears press corps.
Perhaps enamoured of the fact that, for the first time in his life/career people are actually paying attention to his views, Pavin's utterings have become more and more comical as his captaincy has droned on. Indeed, in an unavailing attempt to sound more and more Churchillian, he has descended into a Pythonesque parody of the great orator, churning out a series of statements that can all be filed under the heading "the bleeding obvious". Oh well.
