Close Encounters Of The Tiger Kind
/Doug Ferguson wrote up Ben Curtis' thoughts on playing a round with Tiger at Isleworth ("a bit rusty") and NBC sent out this note on Brad Faxon's recent encounter with Tiger. Warning, Tiger is NOT working with Dave Stockton, as one might discern from this:
NBC Sports’ Brad Faxon on his chance meeting with Tiger Woods this morning: “I used to live here in Orlando and I have a good buddy that lives here. We played early this morning and on the back of the range, Tiger was out there. I haven’t seen him since the accident and he hasn’t seen me. I was as nervous to see him as anything. I walked out there and said, ‘do you need a putting lesson?’ He started laughing. I don’t think he needs any help with his putting but we just talked for a long time about putting; what he’s trying to do; a lot of the new things in golf; Dave Stockton and what he’s doing with his stroke. It’s unbelievable. We talked about all these styles and strokes. He’s messing with a new putter. He’s getting ready for the Masters, as he’s announced. I think he’s very nervous, too. And what I think he’s most nervous about is getting there on Monday in front of everybody who he hasn’t been in front of for a long time. I feel for him. It’s going to be hard for him that day. I have no problem believing that when he puts that peg in the ground on Thursday, he’ll be fine. But those first few days are going to be tough.”
