First Masters Question: The Sounds Of Silence?

Tiger Woods mentioned in his ESPN interview that he is nervous about the fan reaction and hoping for a few claps.

Now, we've heard how the Masters galleries know the game, respect the players and in general, deserve their euphemistic branding as patrons. And I have no doubt that heckling will be non-existent when Tiger returns, but isn't it also possible that he'll step on the first tee at Augusta National and be met with lukewarm to non-existent applause by these sophisticated patrons? And wouldn't that be more awkward, uncomfortable and unprecedented than heckling?

After all, a golf tournament miscreant tends to offend most fans, creating a bonding moment where the crowd turns on the offender and applauds the security team that takes away the loser. But light applause or silence? That strikes me as a potentially unprecedented situation. (Can anyone think of a big-time tournament golf, first tee announcement that was followed by a silent protest?)
