Finchem: "That's just a screw-up on my part."

No, he's not referring to the recipe he dug up for his Commissioner-hosted Southern-style pig roast at last year's Players Championship. He's actually talking about something of substance: Wednesday's bungled handling of the Tiger statement-reading announcement.

"In hindsight, we should have pushed the thing along in a way to got the players briefed before they went into their Wednesday matches, some so they're not coming out of a match and getting hit with all these Tiger questions," Finchem said. "We just screwed up on that. That's just a screw-up on my part.

"You can never communicate too much in this business, and when you don't, you usually pay a price. And that was a good example."

That's great and all, but why did he claim to not know so little when first asked? How can you brief players if you don't seem to know much about the event? Or was that not the full story he was peddling?
