Ames Out According To...Finchem

The news of Stephen Ames' WD from the Tour Championship was oddly delivered by PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem, and according to the wire service story,"Finchem said Ames was home in Calgary going through tests."

Why is the Commissioner announcing a WD?

Reader David says Ames was supposed to be in Jacksonville on Monday to announce the $2.7 million the Players Championship gave to area charities, thus explaining why Finchem made the announcement.
