Jungle Bird Man Crashes Nats Game, US Open Next?
/James Wagner reports that Jungle Bird Man, aka Andrew Dudley who crashed the 2012 U.S. Open trophy ceremony, made his presence known at Friday's Nationals-Mets game.
Thanks to readers Brian and Scott for the alert. And no doubt, an alert for USGA security this June.
With one out in the top of the inning and closer Rafael Soriano on the mound facing Ruben Tejada, Jungle Bird Man raced onto the field from the first base side seats and ran the bases.
Soriano, hands on his waist, and players stopped and watched as Jungle Bird Man reached home plate and then mimicked a swing.
“That was a funny moment,” catcher Wilson Ramos, who was a few feet away from Jungle Bird Man. “Behind home plate, I saw security push that guy on the ground. It was hard. Those guys drink too much.”
Security personnel hoping to prevent a Jungle Bird incident at Pinehurst will want to study this interview to better understand his thinking.
The USGA sent Jungle Bird Man a refund letter for any ticket he might have purchased for the 2013 U.S. Open at Meron, something they may want to do again.
